MR16 LED lamps are beginning to replace inefficient halogen lamps and becoming a common light source for general illumination. NXP offers low VF Schottky diodes that are ideal for thermal and space critical applications like LED retrofit lamps.
Driven by 12 VAC, an MR16 LED lamp uses four diodes for the full bridge rectification and one diode for the freewheeling action. NXP's extremely low leakage 1 to 2 A, 20 to 40 V Schottky diodes in FlatPower SOD123W or leadless medium-power SOT1061 packages are perfectly suited and enhance the overall system efficiency.
