The fastest time-to-market for high-performance, fully mature, mid-range EDGE phones. This customizable, highly cost-effective ARM9-based GSM/GPRS/EGE solution supports an extensive range of multimedia and connectivity functions, including QVGA LCD and 1.3-Megapixel camera.
The NXP Nexperia cellular system solution 5213 is a complete hardware/software design for mid-range multimedia EDGE phones. Supplied with all the pre-validated hardware, software, and tool components for a finished design, it enables rapid capitalization in today’s fast-growing markets.
Offering full quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE operation, it addresses the mid-level Value Added Services (VAS) market with a range of multimedia functions, including still picture, video, MMS, Java, WAP, audio organizer, and video player.
The core components include a high-performance baseband, a power management unit (PMU) with fully integrated battery charger, and a complete four-band transceiver. High integration, along with optimized processing power, keeps power consumption and delivers industry-leading standby and talk times.
The system eliminates the need for an external camera-sensor interface, and performs audio functions, including polyphonic ringtones, MP3 listening, and audio/video playback without an audio/video coprocessor.
The design is fully GCF/PTCRB tested and pre-validated, so you can bring new solutions to market quickly, with a high level of maturity and easy customization.
More than 250 million Nexperia-based systems have been brought to market, making these some of the most extensively proven designs available. NXP deployed the world’s first EDGE solution (the Nexperia cellular system solution 6120), and now offers EDGE for the mass market on top of a market-competitive GPRS platform. By using mature technology available in production volumes, the system solution 5209 ensures reliability and the fastest possible time-to-market for handset makers.
Pre-validated multimedia, broadcast, and connectivity Built around a highly flexible, platform-based architecture, the system solution 5213 can be extended quickly with multimedia options for added performance. NXP’s local third-party partners can also provide a range of enhanced features for video, still imaging, audio, voice, and security applications. Design teams can also add their own software, or software supplied by a third party, to the basic system.
The system solution 5213 comes with an extensive set of tools, so you can modify the PCB layout or customize the look and feel of the user interface. The result is a development cycle that moves from prototype to mass production in record time, with dedicated support for industrial partners.
Nexperia cellular system solutions are just one part of our portfolio for cellular handsets. We also have high-performance options for the cellular pipe, multimedia, broadcast, the user interface, and discretes and general-purpose ICs.
