Background information
RFID solutions compliment current bar code-based tracking systems, allowing companies to track inventory through their complete supply chain. Unlike bar codes, RFID offers automatic data collection without manual scanning or a line of sight. For example, information from RFID-tagged cases on a pallet can be read automatically using fixed, mobile or handheld readers. This eliminates the time and effort required for individual bar code scanning, cutting costs and increasing throughput.
Within the store, RFID can enhance the shopping experience by offering customers more information, increasing shelf availability and even providing some entertainment.
