Our Nexperia HD IP STB development kit STB236 supports the latest high definition video standards. The integrated HDMI features 1080p HD support, ensuring optimal picture quality at a sensible cost, while Ethernet allows traditional broadcast content to be combined with the latest IP-based Video On Demand and Watch Again services. The kit includes our latest silicon tuner technology, easily customizable to your specific requirements.
Delivering advanced HD AV processing, the multi-format source decoder PNX8336 handles the latest HD video formats with ease, while maintaining a degree of flexibility for the future. Its efficient memory architecture provides HD performance at a sensible system cost. The IC can decode a single HD stream, or two standard definition streams.
Full HD video output resolution (1080p50/60) is supported, as well as 1080p24, 1080i/720p and PAL/NTSC or progressive PAL/NTSC for SD. Dedicated integrated DACs support simultaneous HD and SD video output. The built-in scaler ensures legacy content is viewable at optimal picture quality on the latest flat panel HD displays.
PNX8336 functionality includes security and conditional access features and key connectivity protocols such as HDMI. This significantly improves security (protecting HD content by HDCP before going off-chip), lowers peripheral component count and simplifies board design.
Migrating existing applications or developing new programs is simple. You can use Linux or WinCE for fast system development, while NXP’s 3rd-party software vendor network can supply key components, eliminating the need to develop your own low-level drivers.
Enabling rapid product development, the STB236 comes complete with hardware development platform, software infrastructure and reference examples. Gerbers and schematics are provided, allowing re-use and easy customization for a particular product.
