  • IBOLink interface allows easy integration with existing analog TV chassis
  • Digital audio output (S/PDIF) for home theatre systems
  • Support for conditional access smart card
  • Terrestrial, RS232 and flashcard download capabilities
  • Controlled via I2C-bus interface using NXP's IBOLink command protocol

Background information

Helping you bridge the gap between analog and digital reception simply and quickly, the DE200/50 iDTV reference design adds DVB capabilities to existing low- and mid-end analog TV systems. It significantly reduces the need for application software development and can be integrated easily into a conventional TV chassis. Overall system costs are kept low as only 16 Mbytes of SDRAM and 4 Mbytes of NOR Flash memory are required for DVB reception.

The DE200/50 is based on NXP's Nexperia technology, an advanced platform that reduces your design effort and risk to provide a low cost, short time-to-market route for introducing new iDTV sets. The reference design uses the powerful PNX8314 Home Entertainment Engine at its heart, together with the TDA10046 channel decoder which incorporates a ‘pulse killer’ algorithm to reduce electrically-induced interference.

NXP's IBOLink command protocol allows the DE200/50 to be controlled simply by the TV set’s microcontroller, via the I2C-bus. The IBOLink software offers standard and customizable messages that can be incorporated easily into any existing TV software stack.
