DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE Motorola is pleased to announce the introduction of a new 87.5 percent UDR2 wafer fabrication process for the 0.5-micron MC68040V product line. The F54F mask is still fabricated at MOS11, a Motorola fabrication facility in Austin, Texas. The 68K MC68040V product line will be converted from the 85 percent UDR2 to the 87.5 percent UDR2 process. No changes to the circuit or shrink were incorporated in this process conversion. This means that no circuit board modifications are necessary if converting from 85 percent UDR2 to 87.5 percent UDR2 products. There is no revision to the mask set which will remain F54F. MC68040V products will still have a V suffix at the end of the device number (MC68040FE25V). The marking of the device will remain unchanged.
