In an achievement that demonstrates leadership in a rapidly growing market, NXP Sound Solutions, the NXP business line devoted to producing best-in-class audio speakers for telecom applications, has produced its 1 billionth speaker in Beijing.
The Beijing operation has grown steadily since its establishment in 2001. In just six years, the group has grown from a one-product operation with 50 people to a multi-product manufacturing organization with more than 600 highly skilled employees. Output levels have increased steadily, reaching 380 million pieces per year by the end of 2007.
A key factor in achieving this very high level of output is the use of fully automated lines that produce speakers with superior acoustic qualities and better product reliability. Another reason for the Beijing site's continued success is NXP's deep knowledge of acoustics, which results in product designs that combine crisp, clear sound with excellent quality.
NXP's 13-mm slim speaker, for example, is produced at the Beijing site and is the industry standard for entry-level phones. It is the most widely used acoustic component in the history of mobile phones.
The Beijing site is a Center of Competence for High Diversity Products and works closely with the NXP Sound Solutions organization in Vienna to introduce new products and technologies.
As a whole, NXP Sound Solutions has produced more than 2.5 billion mobile-phone speakers and receivers and is the market leader in mini-acoustic solutions for telecom applications.
