There's a tremendous level of excitement since our new beginning as NXP. People really ‘live the values’ - I see my boss engaging with others, being insightful and inventive, and focusing on excellence, and this encourages me to do the same, and so on. I like the clear leadership we get from our CEO. It gives a focus for where to put our energy, and this cascades down to all levels. It's also exciting to have an ambitious company aim - €8 billion by 2009. It implies that great things are still to be done.
In my job, I'm responsible for four sites across Asia. I help to deliver the results and support the company roadmap. I manage change and improvement. And I help my people develop their competences. I know I have better prospects now. My first year or so was a struggle due to all the changes, trying to improve processes and get people on board. I am more focused now - and I've been given enough flexibility to organize things better. The function I have now is at the end of the supply chain, and I would like to experience more direct exposure to (end) customers in the next 2-3 years; visiting customers etc. I am convinced that if I succeed in my present role this move will become possible for me.
I have had no formal training so far but I am involved in the leadership program - which is very good for building my network. I'd like to learn more about semiconductors themselves, to be able to get on in future.”
