Philips’ Nexperia Partner Program adds leading software developers and systems integrators implementing applications for the “Connected Home”

Vendors develop LINUX-based applications and reference designs for multi-room PVR, home media servers and IP-STBs

Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced that 14 new leading independent software vendors (ISVs) and systems integrators have joined the Nexperia™ Home Partner Program. These companies develop software and provide system integration capabilities for the industry’s premier family of processors for managing digital video and HD content around the home. These advanced consumer applications include products like personal media players (portable video and audio players), multi-room, high-definition personal video recorders (PVRs) and IP set-top boxes (STBs). These applications, running on the Philips Nexperia family of processors, will be demonstrated in the North Hall #N243 at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 6-9, 2005 in Las Vegas.

The 14 new members of the Philips Nexperia Home Partner Program include Alarity Corporation; Atos Origin International; Avtrex, Inc.; Barco Silex; DigitalDeck, Inc.; GAO Research, Inc.; Institute of Super Compression Technologies, Inc.; IT Access Co., Ltd.; NSIcom; Silicon and Software Systems Ltd.; Sasken Communications Technologies Ltd.; SetaBox Technology Corp.; Shanghai Suntimes Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.; and VividLogic Inc. The Nexperia Home Partner Program was launched 1 year ago in December of 2003 to help ISVs and integrators market software-based products for Nexperia Home semiconductor solutions. There are Nexperia partners located in every key development area in the world. As a result, there is already a new wave of innovative consumer devices for the Connected Home.

“Philips Nexperia technology has made the underlying media process functions easy-to-use, and porting our Linux-based processes was a seamless procedure,” said Erik Scheelke, president, DigitalDeck. “We have the required processing power to fully support HD-video and take care of any other related functionalities without a problem.”

“Avtrex digital entertainment solutions are a perfect match for the power of the Nexperia processor,” said Steve Francis, CEO, Avtrex. “Advanced HDTV video recording combined with access to digital photos and music from around the home network allow manufacturers to create great products, delivering the ultimate customer experience.”

“The Nexperia Home Partner Program ecosystem has grown tremendously in a single year, and we are already seeing innovative products that simply change the way people enjoy their entertainment,” said Pieter Noordam, vice president of Consumer Business Development, Philips Semiconductors. “We are proud to list the clear leaders of software development and system integration for advanced consumer products as part of our growing program.”
