NXP creates user-centric web experience
New website delivers on company’s brand promise
Eindhoven, The Netherlands, June 21, 2007 – NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, today launched its new interactive public website, setting a high standard for customer engagement and collaboration in the semiconductor industry.
NXP.com was developed with insight from over 2,000 design engineers to ensure a customer-driven website that addresses the complex technology and business demands of NXP’s customers, partners and other stakeholders. “It is much easier to find what I'm looking for on the new NXP website: the page lay-out is fantastic and it’s a lot faster. The site helps me work more efficiently”, said Derek Snell of Future Electronics.
“We are very proud of this achievement. Using state-of-the-art web technology and a cooperative approach with our customers we have built a truly vibrant, fresh Internet site. The unique way we worked to develop the site, heavily relying on end-user input, has enabled us to fulfill the complex needs of our customers in a way that is unprecedented in our industry,” said Sander Arts, VP and Head of Corporate Communications and Branding.
In order to better understand and address specific user challenges encountered on semiconductor company websites, NXP conducted extensive focus group research with design engineers from nearly 500 customers and partners worldwide. During the studies NXP investigated, among other things, regional online behavioral differences. So in addition to the global needs that the site addresses, the new NXP.com incorporates additional functionalities like multiple search functions on every page which customers in Asia truly value.
As a result of extensive research, NXP has created a website that promises to be best in class. The new NXP.com is the first semiconductor industry website to use Rich Internet Application (RIA) on such a large scale. RIA will ensure ease of use, accurate search results and even better interaction for customers and partners. The new website addresses both traditional access issues, and can be customized and personalized to deliver a collaboration-friendly environment.
“NXP is acknowledging the growing importance of online marketing in our industry and I believe that our website will be the semiconductor industry’s benchmark in online engagement. The new site makes finding the right information quick and easy and ensures that information is right at our customers’ fingertips,” said Michel Claassens, Head of Global Brand Experience, NXP Semiconductors, and responsible for NXP’s online presence. “Visitors to NXP.com can immediately benefit from the simplified layout and features – whether they’re searching through large product portfolios or seeking to order product samples.”
This launch is the first step in a process of improvements to the online experience for NXP customers. Additional enhancements, scheduled for later in 2007 and in 2008, will focus on personalization, customization and collaboration.
