NXP Appoints Senior Industry Executive to Head Manufacturing Operations


Christopher P. Belden appointed to head asset light strategy


Eindhoven, The Netherlands, February 19, 2008 – NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, today announced that, with effect from 1 March, Christopher P. Belden is appointed Senior Vice President Global Manufacturing. In this role, Chris will be responsible for all NXP IC manufacturing, including Front End and Back End operations.

 

“Chris brings to us a wealth of experience in managing semiconductor manufacturing operations and a track record of introducing innovative strategies for this integral part the business,” commented Hein van der Zeeuw, Chief Operations, NXP Semiconductors. “We have made good progress implementing our asset light strategy. By appointing one of the industry’s most experienced executives we ensure NXP will continue to lead in this area.”

 

Chris joins NXP, after he left Applied Materials in 2007, where he was responsible for Global Operations. Previously he spent over 20 years at Freescale Semiconductor, being responsible for the company’s manufacturing operations. He will report to Hein van der Zeeuw, Chief Operations, and be based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
