NXP First To Deliver NorDig-compliant System-Level STB Solution
Enables OEMs to offer best-in-class digital reception, picture and sound quality, speed-up time-to-market
Eindhoven, The Netherlands, June 05, 2008 - NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, today announced that its STB100 T21 reference board is the first full digital terrestrial system-level solution to have passed the NorDig 1.0.3 verification test process. The NorDig 1.0.3 compliance will ensure that the STB100 reference board is capable of spectacular digital reception and offers OEMs a simple, well-designed, affordable set-top box solution. For consumers, NXP's validated STB100 will, in turn, deliver superior picture and sound quality on mainstream set-top-boxes.
NXP's STB100 T21 reference board incorporates the highly integrated silicon tuner TDA18211, state-of-the-art channel decoder for digital terrestrial reception - TDA10048, and the Nexperia MPEG source decoder, PNX8300 - all of which combined fulfill the RF performance requirements under the NorDig Unified Specification 1.0.3. tested and verified in Teracom's laboratory in Sweden. Ideal for mainstream free-to-air or pay television, the STB100 is a dedicated solution for single-channel digital STB ‘Zapper Boxes’ and iDTV systems.
