GreenChip TEA1733 Bringing Higher Energy Efficiency to Netbook Adapters Well Recognized in the Industry

Shanghai, China, June 11, 2010- NXP Semiconductors announced today that GreenChip TEA1733, one of its Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) controller ICs, won the Green Power Award in 2009 Electronic Engineering & Product World Power Product Award. Designed specifically for low-power computing and communication applications such as netbook adapters, printer adapter and LCD monitor supplies, the low-cost IC enables standby power level less than 80mW. Keith Yeung, the Assistant Product Marketing Manager of NXP Semiconductors attended the Awards Ceremony held in Shenzhen Pavilion Hotel on June 8.

“The selection of annual EEPW Power Product Award originates from Electronic Design & Application World‘s annual selection event which has been well recognized in the industry over the past six years. By leveraging more powerful platforms, reader resources along with experts and through web selection and expert evaluation processes, two top media joined hands to select the power products that were most favored by the industry in 2009 based on their innovation and practicality. ” said Qiuna Chen, president of Electronic Engineering & Product World, “NXP has always strived to become a green vanguard for environmental protection, As a family member of GreenChip, TEA1733 integrating innovation and practicality has further enhanced the cost competitiveness while maintaining high product quality and reliability. It‘s a great pleasure for us to present the award to NXP Semiconductors, which represents the recognition of the industry to NXP Semiconductors‘ efforts for over ten years in the field of energy-saving and environmental protection.”

I‘d like to thank Electronic Engineering & Product World for its provision of this exchange platform to the industry to bring opportunities for China‘s general electronics designers to vote for their favorite products,” said Vincent Chang, the Senior Regional Product Marketing Manager of BU HPMS Greater China NXP Semiconductors. “We regard this award as the industrial authoritative experts and customers’ recognition of and encouragement to NXP‘s adherence to green environmental protection and pursuit of excellence. NXP‘s technology developers will be, as always, keen to capture market demand and focus on energy-efficient design; maintain its expertise in RF, analog, power, digital processing and manufacturing; and provide users with more High Performance Mixed Signals (HPMS) and standard product solutions.”

TEA1733 enables standby power level to be less than 80mW; requires a very low start-up current of 10µA, and consumes a low supply current about 0.5mA in standby mode. The combination of fixed frequency operation at high output power and frequency reduction at low output power provides high efficiency over the total load range.
