Descriptive summary

NXP offers processors for in-car multimedia systems and applications like rear seat entertainment, where also dual source playback can be supported. For front seat entertainment application dual view displays can be enabled providing driver and co-driver with different content. Multimedia covers various formats and standards as well as a wide range of sources, from portable media players, DVDs, USB sticks and SD cards. Also source decoding for digital television can be hosted by the media processors.

Next to multimedia playback applications is the unique capability of interfacing up to 8 cameras and the leading edge performance of the processors enabling advanced camera based parking assist. The ‘bird-view’ provides a view like from a perspective including surroundings of the car to help maneuver in complex parking situations. Multimedia and parking applications can be hosted by the same processor.

NXP’s USB solutions are single-chip devices for the use in automotive applications. A wide range of functionality, speed requirements and port configuration enable our customers to reduce the complexity of systems.

NXP offers CD processors for baseband audio CD decoding and a single chip audio controller with embedded ARM7 processor for automotive and aftermarket applications. The ARM7 based system internally supports MP3 and WMA audio streams as well as ESP by an external (P)SRAM. This flexibility enables our tier-1s and OEMs to minimize cost of ownership by reducing the complexity of the systems.
