LIN (Local Interconnect Network) systems improve cost-efficiency and flexibility of IVN, providing decentralization of local functionality in applications such as door and seat control.

NXP is an associate member of the LIN consortium, supporting the introduction of this latest protocol for in-vehicle sub-networks and driving the re-definition of the LIN physical layer. Building on our existing LIN capabilities, our device portfolio extends functionality and reduces system cost via dedicated LIN SBCs, and will include a family of one-chip-node LIN slave products.

Key features

  • Up to 20 Kbaud
  • Very low EME together with high EMI
  • Low slope mode to reduce EME even further
  • Passive behavior in unpowered state
  • Input levels compatible with 3.3 V and 5 V devices
  • Integrated termination resistor for LIN slave applications
  • Wake-up source recognition (local or remote)

Key applications

  • Seat, door and roof modules
  • Switch panels
  • Steering column
