Whether it's an ultra-low-cost handset (ULCH), a high-end smartphone, or a portable media player, we have the right combination of features to extend battery life while making the most of advanced features like hi-fi audio, video processing, and larger color displays.


Each power management unit (PMU) is a compact, standalone unit that increases design flexibility while reducing board space. Programmable power supplies let the system adapt to different operating conditions, so power consumption can be managed in real time.


Cellular terminals

The Download PDF File PMU PCF50626, for example, has 21 programmable power supplies, a touchscreen interface, a 10-bit ADC, ambient light control, 1-A charging current, and a thermal regulation loop - all in a package that measures just 7 x 7 mm. It's designed for use in cellular terminals, and works seamlessly with Nexperia cellular multimedia basebands and application processors, or processors from other suppliers.

Portable media players

For portable media players, our PMUs integrate DC/DC converters, LDOs, and other features specially selected to improve media performance. The PCF50633, for example, has two programmable DC/DC step-down converters (up to 500 mA), one DC/DC auto up/down converter (up to 1.1 A), a white LED boost converter (up to 20 V), several LDOs, support for battery charging, an ambient light monitor, and more. All its functions are fully programmable via an I²C interface, and the package measures only 8x8 mm.

WLAN subsystems

We even make a special PMU, the Download PDF File PCF50685, just for use in the connectivity and broadcast subsystems of a mobile device. This highly integrated device offers several features, including integrated switching converters and linear regulators, that increase flexibility and energy efficiency while reducing size and lowering cost. It offloads the main processor by performing system-level functions like reset generation, power sequencing, and supply on/off control, so systems that incorporate Wireless LAN (WLAN), TV-on-mobile, or Ultra-wide Band (UWB) operate more efficiently.
