Transceivers are bi-directional, and used to transmit to or receive from a data bus. Multiple devices can be connected to the same bus making them suitable for use in parallel backplane applications such as telecommunications and industrial infrastructure.

NXP's transceiver options include variants of bit width ranging from 4-bit to 32-bit. Transceivers are available in most logic families providing options from 1.0 V to 5.5 V. Options such as bus-hold and source termination resistors are included to eliminate the need for external components to define inputs or balance load impedance.

Transceivers are available in standard logic and innovative PicoGate packages. Smaller leadless MicroPak and DQFN packages are available for PCB space saving. NXP's transceivers are fully specified from -40 ºC to 125 ºC.
