Descriptive summary

NXP High speed muxes/switch portfolio addresses market/application requirements over data rates of 1-10 Gbps supporting different interface technologies– PCIe, SATA/SAS, USB3.0, DisplayPort, LVDS, 10 Gbps. These products serve custom or general applications in Desktop/Notebook/Server platforms. The products in the portfolio have single/dual/multi-channel switching/muxing capability. For example, CBTL04083A/B is a 4 differential channel, 2-to-1 mux/demux switch for PCI Express Generation 3 (Gen3) applications. CBTL04083A/B can switch four differential signals to one of two locations. Also, the switches are bi-directional.

Optimized pin-outs

Their pin-outs are optimized to match different application layouts. CBTL04083A has input and output pins on the opposite of the package, and is suitable for edge connector(s) with different signal sources on the motherboard. CBTL04083B has outputs on both sides of the package, and the device can be placed between two connectors to multiplex differential signals from a controller. CBTL02043A/B provides bandwidth up to 10 Gbps and supports evolving copper and optical transmission standards, Using a unique design technique, NXP has minimized the impedance of the switches such that the attenuation observed through the switches is negligible, and also minimized the channel-to-channel skew as well as channel-to-channel crosstalk, as required by the high-speed serial interface. To facilitat

Product support

The muxes/switches are offered in a variety of package/pinning combinations and they can operate at 3.3 V or 1.8V power supply, consumes very little current while providing low insertion loss and low return loss high-speed differential switch channels suitably. To enable design-ins, these products are supported with collateral (datasheet, application note, layout guidelines), compliance/interop results, demo boards, models and customer support.

Key parametric considerations: · Insertion loss and bandwidth · Number of differential paths · Peak-to-peak differential voltage · Common mode voltage · Inter/intra-pair skew · Rise/fall time · Differential mode return loss · Common mode return loss · Cross-talk The resulting mix of products is one which covers a broad set of applications with a range of products that exhibit excellent performance and signal integrity.
