Descriptive summary

Flip flops are basic storage elements in digital electronics. They transfer input data to the outputs on an edge transition of their clock input. NXP offers a comprehensive range of D-type and JK-type flip flops configured as either positive or negative edge triggered for design flexibility.

Synchronizing asynchronous signals to a specific reference, adding delay to a signal, frequency division, counting of pulses and shifting of data are common uses of flip flops. In automotive electronics, flip flops can be used for timing synchronization in virtual dash boards, video display systems, body control and central gateway system adjusting seat position, controlling power windows, interior and exterior lights.

Flip flops are available in standard SO, TSSOP, PicoGate and innovative leadless MicroPak and DQFN packages for PCB space saving. NXP's automotive flip flops are fully specified from -40°C to 125°C, and are qualified per AEC Q100 grade 1.
