Descriptive summary

Support for a broad range of interfaces enables easy integration with existing automotive designs and third-party application software. You can also add additional multimedia features as they develop and grow in popularity. The solution is unique in offering advanced software features, including the ability to implement the latest audio / video standards, video post processing algorithms as well as Digital Radio standards as they become available. This dedicated automotive product family supports source decoding of video broadcast over satellite (SDARS) or digital TV (DVB-T, ISDB-T (1-Seg.)), as well as channel and source decoding for digital radio standards such as Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) or Digital Radio Mondial (DRM).

In addition, the PNX952x family is able to connect to a mobile phone over Wi-Fi or a media player over USB and can even carry out high-end audio processing like multi-speed audio encoding (up to 8X). And those in the front and rear seats can even choose different entertainment selections at the same time. Fully C/C++ programmable, our automotive media processors run a small real-time operating system enabling efficient and predictable response to real-time events. Independent, on-chip, I/O and co-processing units capture and format datastream I/O and accelerate multimedia algorithms, while a sophisticated memory hierarchy manages internal I/O and streamlines access to external memory. The PNX952x also supports special power management software, lowering power consumption.

NXP partner program

PNX952x devices are supported by a comprehensive software development environment. There is also an extensive range of software available, both from NXP and independent vendors in the NXP Partner Program. This wide choice of software plays a key role in the solution’s flexibility.
