NXP's comprehensive range of triacs and thyristors includes 3-quadrant (High Commutation) and 4-quadrant triacs, and silicon controlled rectifiers. Among their many uses, they provide the interface between the control IC and AC loads found in home appliances.

The first choice in providing reliable control of any load is NXP's three-quadrant (Hi-Com) triacs. Their superior immunity to electrical noise and false triggering when controlling non-linear, inductive or capacitive loads reduces the need for the protection components that are essential for standard four-quadrant triacs.

Guaranteed voltage ratings extend to 1000 V to satisfy the demanding requirements of motor direction control. Gate currents also range from 5 mA for ease of driving, to 50 mA for the best immunity to false triggering.
