Sustainability
NXP Semiconductors is a company with a deep commitment to sustainability. We believe that for us to become a truly sustainable company, we need our suppliers to join us in this commitment, based on a shared set of values and principles.
In 2006, the year we became an independent company, we launched our NXP Supplier Declaration on Sustainability and our lists of substance related requirements for products and packaging.
To ensure our suppliers comply with the substance lists and the principles set out in the Supplier Declaration, we have embedded sustainability self-assessments and audits in our supply management processes.
Self-assessment and audits
Our current suppliers and all our new suppliers are asked 1) to sign the declaration, 2) only to supply materials that are compliant with the substance list and, 3) to fill out a self-assessment tool. The self-assessment allows suppliers to gain awareness of our expectations and to make an initial evaluation of their compliance to our requirements. It may be followed by on-site audits.
These audits are based on a process that is standardized across NXP. The audit includes interviews with the supplier‘s management and staff, on-site factory inspections, and are carried out by NXP qualified assessors or third-party auditors.
Suppliers meet our sustainability criteria when there are no major non-compliances and when their approach to - and deployment of - sustainability management are in line with our expectations.
