Standardization Bodies

NXP Semiconductors is active in more than 100 standardization organizations

NXP plays it's role in shaping the industry. We contribute to the development of environmental standards, as well as standards defining new generation of technology in areas like smart cars, mobile communications, multimedia, connectivity, interoperability and identification. Participation in these standardization bodies enables us to bring in NXP's strengths in new technologies, as well as being timely on the market with products that implement the standard. It also facilitates our alignment with equipment vendors, service providers, governments and local markets.

NXP is active in more than 100 standardization organizations. These include formal standardization bodies like ISO, IEC and IEEE, as well as focused consortia. Some examples where NXP plays an active role:

  • Bluetooth and USB: both already widely used but also working on next generations
  • HDMI: High Definition Multimedia Interface, e.g. used in Home Theatres and computer screens
  • FlexRay: advanced automotive control bus, enabling higher safety and intelligence with a combined onboard communication infrastructure
  • MIPI: Mobile Industry Processor Interface, for reducing costs and complexity in mobile terminals such as mobile phones, by standardized interfaces in these terminals
  • DLNA: Digital Living Network Alliance, developing true interoperability between consumer electronics, computers and mobile devices
  • SPIRIT Consortium: in the growing complex world of large System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions, SPIRIT works on technologies that accelerate the design process

Being part of the community that sets new standards, NXP ensures that our technology solutions and the associated standards are compliant to each other. Standardization is one of the means for NXP to build on the Next Experience.
