NXP's University Relations

NXP Semiconductors, founded in 1956, has a long and well-respected relationship with the global university community. Both parties benefit from the scientific results the relationship delivers.

Continuation and further strengthening of these co-operations with top universities worldwide is quite relevant for the success of NXP: not only to attract top-talent and provide with that a solid basis for continued scientific success, but also to complement- and join forces in Research Programs, creating successful enabling Technologies and Architectures for attractive NXP products.

NXP budget for University Relations, apart from the sponsorships of top Institutes, tops yearly more than $10 million. NXP Research supports the scientific staff of Universities with 10 part-time Professors and more than 30 PhD's every year. In addition we offer scholarships to over 50 MSc's; international top talents who will find an interesting- and challenging career within NXP.

In addition to the almost natural partnerships with Dutch and Belgian Universities, the unique relationships with world-class Universities worldwide like Stanford, Berkeley, Tsinghua, Dresden, Moscow, Delhi and Southampton -to mention only a few of the appreciated 50+ relationships- resulted not only in challenging programs but also in exciting results for both University as well as NXP.

University relations are being supported by a new application on extranet: the “University Portal”. This Portal has been installed for selected Universities to access the “Next Experience”. It enables these Universities to order samples of NXP products in a user-friendly manner while at the same time offering a wealth of information: from product catalogues, specifications, documentation all the way to application examples. In addition it will allow Universities, and in particular their talented students, to share experiences for new, innovative, applications with NXP products, propose improvements on existing products and propose new, “Next Experience”, product ideas.

This Portal will bring University and NXP organization closer to each other.
