Marc de Jong

Marc de Jong is Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Automotive and Identification businesses of NXP, the newly independent semiconductor company founded by Philips. In this role, Marc is part of the NXP executive management team (EMT), headed by Frans van Houten.


Marc is responsible for meeting the stringent demands of the automotive industry with advanced technologies for a range of applications, from access and immobilization systems that prevent vehicle theft and anti-lock braking systems to digital entertainment in the car. He is also responsible for the Identification business including being the market leader in RFID, as well as driving market development in emerging applications such as Near Field Communications and electronic Government including e-passports.


Marc began his career at Philips in 1986, holding various positions including product and marketing manager for Electron Microscopy within the Business Electronics product division. In 1994, he moved to the Lighting division where he led the European marketing and sales organization and later the global marketing and sales and IKAM activities for Philips Automotive Lighting. In 2000, Marc was appointed CEO of the Special Lighting and UHP business and in 2003 became CEO of the European Lamps business.


Marc graduated from Amsterdam University with a degree in Physics and Mathematics. He obtained his Master of Business Administration in 1991 as part of the Executive Program at the University of Rochester, New York.
