Mark Hamersma is Senior Vice President responsible for Business Development for NXP, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips.
His responsibilities include strategy, strategic marketing, market communication and M&A. This means he will focus on identifying and developing strategic opportunities that contribute to the company's global competitiveness and ensure its position as a leading semiconductor supplier, next to providing functional leadership to the businesses. In this role, he is a member of the NXP Executive Management Team (EMT) headed by Rick Clemmer.
Since joining NXP in 2004 (then Philips Semiconductors), Mark has been instrumental in shaping the organization's current strategy and business development. Prior to this appointment, Mark held the position of Senior Vice President of Strategy & Strategic Marketing. In that role, Mark designed and implemented the annual “Roadmapping for Leadership” program, actively worked on focusing NXP's portfolio on its most promising businesses, and prioritized and supported the various M&A deals NXP has pursued over the past years.
Prior to joining NXP, Mark was a partner with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on serving High-Tech, Telecom and Private Equity clients. Mark holds a Masters of Science in Physics from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, and a Masters of Business Administration from INSEAD.
