NXP Semiconductors offers manufacturers a convenient testing service via its HDMI Authorized Testing Center (ATC). This dedicated laboratory carries out HDMI compliance testing according to the specifications laid out the HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) 1.3b, corresponding to the HDMI1.3a specification.
According to the High-Definition Media Interface (HDMI) Adopter's Agreement, all products that claim HDMI Specification conformance or bear any HDMI trademarks must undergo appropriate compliance testing following the rules laid out in the 
HDMI Compliance Testing Policies document. This improves interoperability between devices from different manufacturers - making HDMI more user-friendly and attractive to consumers.

Device categories
The HDMI CTS 1.3b defines four device categories for testing. A manufacturer's first HDMI product in each device category must be tested at an HDMI ATC. Subsequent devices can be tested at an HDMI ATC or at the manufacturer's internal lab. The four categories are:
- Source device e.g. DVD players, set-top boxes
- Sink devices e.g. televisions, projectors
- Repeater devices e.g. home theatre receivers
- Cable assemblies

HDCP test
NXP Semiconductors ATC can also test devices following the HDCP Compliance Test Specification CTS1.1, as required by the HDMI CTS1.3b. The relevant HDCP Test Application and Product Capability Form can be downloaded from DCP LLC website, while a specific Agreement can be requested from NXP by e-mail
