According to the U.S. Department of Energy, lighting accounts for over 30% of the electricity used in commercial buildings – more than any other building system. The use of occupancy sensors in lighting systems is an important strategy for saving energy and thus, cost. Basic occupancy sensors detect the presence of a person by measuring infrared radiation. More advanced systems are now “dual-technology,” with PIR and ultrasonic sensors capable of detecting both major and minor movement. Scheduling devices can also be added for larger projects, such as entire buildings tied together on the same schedule, or where occupancy is typically predictable and based on a schedule.
Our scalable portfolio of MCUs and MPUs provides low-cost basic processing and connectivity solutions, to high-performance, multi-protocol solutions with integrated security features, to fit your unique intelligent occupancy sensing design.
