Industry 4.0 is about sensing and collecting data in an industrial production environment. The data collection serves
multiple goals, from process monitoring to process improvement and self-diagnostics.
Ideally, an industry 4.0 factory is created from scratch, but this is not the economic reality where production
machinery and capital investments are very often used for decades. Early detection of anomalies allows
preventive maintenance and avoids production losses.
In rotating machines like wheel bearings and motors, these anomalies show up via abnormal vibrations and temperature
increases. The anomalies do not happen in a sudden way but grow over time and these first indications will be
detected when reaching a threshold.
A small and lightweight sensing tag based on the NTAG SmartSensor provides a way to add sensory and logging
capabilities to existing machinery without disturbing or interfering during normal operations. Thanks to the low-power operation, these tags can operate for 6 or more months. Via NFC, the collected anomaly data can be readout and
used to plan the next maintenance.

our examples in the SDK: a sensing tag with an alarm based on Sigfox/Lora or just with RAIN RFID status output.
