Advanced electronic heat allocation meters often employ RF technologies to measure and transmit temperature data from sensor nodes to the main concentrator. Typically, these devices are designed to support two or more multi-room households using the same central heater, and to run 10-20 years on a set of batteries.
These meters sense and record the temperature of both the radiator surface and the room air; the temperature difference provides the measure for heat consumption.
