Smart Cities in the Age of IoT

Cities worldwide seek to make urban living simpler, safer, and healthier. And NXP® is committed to providing scalable IoT and security technologies to help bring smart cities to life.

NXP is a proud partner in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart City Challenge. The Challenge is a contest for midsized cities to demonstrate how advanced data and intelligent transportation technologies can be used to reduce energy consumption and congestion. Our contribution includes:

  • Vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) technology
  • Long-range, secure, and private RFID tagging for automatic vehicle identification and road safety systems
  • Smart card ICs to enable secure admission to transportation, access control, retail and other municipal services

“Our partnership with NXP will help push the boundaries of what is possible in cities across America.”

—U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx
