About This Training
5G millimeter Wave (mmW) enables huge bandwidth extension for the 5G network. Due to the small wavelengths and propagation properties, infrastructure RF design (system partitioning, RF signal path and antennas) differs significantly compared to 5G sub 6GHz equipment, leading to a larger number of “small range” base stations applying active beamforming techniques.
These beamforming techniques open opportunities for “space division multiplexing”. NXP has been designing active beamforming devices since the early start of 5G mmW (NR) definition. The latest generation (MMW901xK) has greatly improved PAE, increased integration level and advanced digital control bus to ease the antenna panel design for customers.
This presentation gives insight into the architecture, key performance indicators and challenges of active beam forming devices for 5G mmW.
