DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

      Freescale Semiconductor is pleased to announce the addition of
      capacity to support the Burn-in (B/I) of our HCS12 products. This
      additional capacity will be at Trio Tech (a QS9000 certified
      supplier) in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
     
      Production will be accomplished using identical B/I boards, drivers,
      software, processes and conditions. Products could be processed
      either in Freescale's KLM site, our previously approved KESM
      subcontractor site, or Trio Tech (TTPJ).

QUALIFICATION PLAN

      Correlation was to be accomplished using a minimum of 3 lots of 1000
      units each to be split between the current and proposed sites.
      Analysis was to include comparisons of B/I yield, bin-to-bin and
      overall final test yields (at hot and cold temperatures) and visual
      mechanical/coplanarity yields between the current and proposed sites.

RELIABILITY DATA SUMMARY

      Successful correlation was accomplished using 3 lots each of 2
      different S12 products (shown here as A and B) comprising more than
      14,000 units. As per the qualification plan, analysis compared B/I
      yields and final test (FT) yields at hot(FTH) and cold
      (FTC)temperatures. Correlation for bin-to-bin and total yields was
      accomplished.
     
      Visual/mechanical (V/M)inspections for burrs, patchback and slivers
      as well as solderability testing (dip and look) employed a total of
      more than 16,000 units. Data is presented as differential between
      proposed (TTPJ) and current (KESM) sites:

      FTH - A 0.97%
      FTC - A 1.27%
      V/M - A 0%
      Solderability - A 0%
      Coplanarity - A 0.32
      Lead Skew - A 0.02
      B/I - B 0.29%
      FTH - B -0.92%
      FTC - B 1.00%
      V/M - B 0%
      Solderability - B 0%
      Coplanarity - B -1.59
      Lead Skew - B -0.26
     
      Results were equivalent to results obtained in the current site.
      Due to the necessity of using different material for each part of
      the correlation, the above results are subject to standard
      production yield variations. The above figures are consistent with
      the variation in standard production yield figures.

ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTIC SUMMARY

      Burn/In correlation only, does not include electrical
      characterization.
