    DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

          Freescale is pleased to announce full automotive MC qualification of
          the 0.5um Split Gate Flash, SGF, process in the MOS9 wafer
          fabrication facility in East Kilbride, Scotland. This qualification
          also covers 0.5um ROM devices. The 0.5um SGF process has been
          running in volume production in MOS9 since April 2004 when it was MC
          qualified for Consumer and Industrial customers, Ref. PCN 9349.
          Over 20 million 0.5um SGF units have been shipped from MOS9 to
          customers through to the end of 2004.
         
          Freescale will work with our customers to best utilize this
          additional automotive capacity.
          New automotive SC part numbers will be set up for the MOS9 flash
          versions. New ROM submissions targeted at MOS9 will automatically
          be assigned a unique SC number.
         
          An additional benefit of the MOS9 qualification for ROM devices is
          the adoption of the DACROM, late layer programming, ROM process.
          This has the potential for improved customer service for ROM devices
          by enhancing flexibility, reducing delivery cycle times and ensuring
          continuity of supply.
         
          The mask sets for these devices are as follows.
          For the MC68HC908AZ60A and MC68HC908AS60A the MOS9 mask set is L31V.
          The equivalent TSC6 mask set is L87J and the equivalent TSMC mask
          set is K85K.
          For the MC68HC08AZ48A and MC68HC08AZ60A the MOS9 mask set is L40X.
          The equivalent TSC6 mask set is L02M.
          For the MC68HC08AZ32A the MOS9 mask set is L32X. The equivalent TSC6
          mask set is L52H.
          Additional details on each mask set are available upon request. All
          existing erratas on equivalent TSC6 and TSMC mask sets are still
          valid on the MOS9 mask sets.
          There is no change to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
         
          These devices have been qualified in MOS9 to the requirements of the
          Automotive Electronics Council AEC and Freescale specifications.
