|TITLE:||TRANSFER OF EOL PRODUCTS|
Motorola must announce the transfer of products previously identified for discontinuance or end of life (EOL). These products are assembled and tested in those Motorola factories slated for closure. These factories will close prior to the estimated completion of last builds to support customer requirements. The affected factories are Silicon Harbor Center (SHC) in Hong Kong, and Sendai Assembly (SDI) in Sendai, Japan, which have phased closures completing in December 2002. Affected products will be transferred to existing, qualified Motorola or subcontractor factories. Transfer locations are dependent on package type. These transfers include all products with last order dates after 30JUL02. They also include some products with last order dates prior to 30JUL02. Attached at the end of this communication is a comprehensive list of affected part numbers purchased by your company. Early placement of lifetime buy orders (prior to the last order dates) could prevent the necessity of transferring products for some customers, by allowing Motorola the ability to complete builds in the current factories while capability and capacity exist. Those customers who choose to wait until the published last order dates will be supported, but will have their products transferred. As some capacities are limited, orders will be accepted and scheduled on a first come first served basis. Motorola requests orders be supplied as soon as possible to allow for planning in the current assembly and test sites. While we realize the inconvenience of this action, we will strive to manage this transition to our mutual benefit. Please work with either your Motorola Sales or Marketing Representative, or your Distributor Sales Representative to begin this transition as soon as possible. Motorola continues to make substantial investments in both new technologies and improved manufacturing capabilities to provide you the highest quality and most reliable semiconductors in the industry. We believe these actions will also improve our ability to serve you in the future.
