    DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

          Dear Customer,
         
          Motorola SPS would like to give notification of intent to eliminate
          100 percent production cold test (-40C) on its 0.5 micron
          HC908AS60A/HC908AZ60A (3K85K) products manufactured in TSMC, Kuala
          Lampur, and Hong Kong facilities. This step was taken in order to
          improve Final Manufacturing capacity. The evaluation process has
          been successfully completed with the results summarized below. Test
          flow will be changed to remove 100 percent cold test and implement a
          cold skip gate test. All criteria has been met for the elimination
          of 100 percent cold test which will be implemented immediately.

    RELIABILITY DATA SUMMARY

          Cold test elimination was validated with 100 percent ambient/cold
          test correlation across 46 wafer lots and 96K of
          HC908AS60A/HC908AZ60A (3K85K mask) device.
          Total qty tested was 96769pcs with NO genuine failures found during
          final validation stages of this exercise.
          Evaluations were carried out on both 64 QFP and 52 PLCC products.
