DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
Motorola is pleased to announce the MPC
qualification of revision A
(mask number L96R) of the PowerQUICC
I MPC866/859 family in the
.18um technology. As a result of this
qualification Motorola
intends to no longer produce revision 0 (mask
number L90H) long
term.
All customers using the MPC866P, MPC866T,
MPC859P, MPC859T and
MPC859DSL, in revision 0, are required to
transition to the revision
A device by March 31,
2004.
Rev. A is a drop in replacement of Rev. 0.
Samples and production
of the devices offered in Rev A
are available today.
Motorola cannot guarantee availability for order
entry past Dec. 31,
2003 or product shipments past March 31, 2004.
Differences in Rev. 0 and Rev. A:
The Data Parity and AS portions of erratum G12
have been fixed on
Rev.A. The Data Parity
pins (DP0, DP1, DP2, and DP3) no longer
require a lower than nominal Vil
level, and the AS pin no longer
requires a higher than nominal Vih level.
The G13 erratum (JTAG) has been fixed on Rev.A. JTAG now functions
normally across standard voltage and temperature
ranges.
The default Power-on-Reset DPLL register values
have changed on
Rev.A, in the MODCK=10
mode. In this mode, the default
Power-on-Reset value for MFI is now 6 (was 8 on
previous revision
(Rev. 0)), and the default value for PDF is now
2 (was 3 on rev. 0).
These changes do not effect
the frequency of clkout. After
Power-on-Reset, the DPLL can be programmed to
any valid setting.
