    DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

          Motorola is announcing the transition of the XPC8255 and XPC8260 in
          the .25-micron technology (HiP4) from die revision A (mask number
          2K25A) to the MPC8255 and MPC8260 die revision B (mask number
          4K25A). Many customers are already using revision B and are not
          affected by this announcement.
         
          All customers using the XPC8255 and XPC8260 in revision A, are
          required to transition to the MPC8255 and MPC8260 in revision B
          device by May 15, 2004. Motorola will not accept any new orders on
          revision A after February 15, 2004.
         
          Some typical examples of this transition would be the following:

          ~~~ PLEAS NOTE that because revision B speed yields have increased
          the IFB speed grade will no longer be offered. Therefore the

          device will operate at the IFB speed.. Please see the PQ2 decoder
          below for additional speed grade options. ~~~
         
          Revision B will be the long running revision for the MPC8255 and the
          MPC8260. Samples and production quantities of revision B are
          available today.
