202605009I : QFN 5x5 Tray Change from ITW to KOSTAT

NXP Semiconductors announces the change of tray vendor from ITW to KOSTAT for the bulk shipment of QFN 5x5 products associated with this notification. There is no impact no change to the NXP products / devices. The tray change to KOSTAT results in the standardization of packing / shipping materials at the manufacturing sites and more importantly quality improvement due to the KOSTAT 6-finger pocket design which provides more fence surface area to reduce the rotation and movement of units within the pocket minimizing the risk of stuck unit issues encountered during the manufacturing process. The current ITW 4-finger pocket design can result in rotated and stuck units causing double unit or empty pocket situations. Tray Change Summary: - No change to tray critical dimensions / minimal change only (<=0.03mm) to Pickup Z-height - Since no relevant dimensional difference between the current ITW tray and the new KOSTAT tray there is no impact on any Pick & Place or automated handling of products using the new KOSTAT trays. - Pocket design change from 4-fingers to 6-fingers (quality improvement) - Tray Temp Rating: Meets or exceeds current tray value - End Tab Embossment: Change from ITW to KOSTAT - Change of tray Part Number - Trays from different vendors KOSTAT and ITW are not stackable Even though no change to tray critical dimensions Customer Information Notification 202605009I is issued to ensure no customer manufacturing disruption upon NXP implementation of the new KOSTAT tray for QFN 5x5 products purchased in bulk tray configuration from NXP. Upon notification Effective Date QFN 5x5 products will begin a ramped implementation of shipments to customers with the new tray vendor and attributes. Please Note: During new KOSTAT tray ramped introduction it is highly recommended to not mix or stack different tray types. Kindly refer to the attachment for tray change details.

Reason of Change

The tray vendor change from ITW to KOSTAT results in the standardization of manufacturing materials and quality improvement since the KOSTAT tray with 6-finger pocket design has better performance (no stuck unit issues) compared to the ITW tray with 4-finger pocket design.

Identification of Affected Products

Product identification does not change Minor change only to tray attributes - see attached information for tray change details. This change will be a ramped implementation beginning work week 33 of 2026 and onwards.
