Unleash the full potential of NFC with NTAG

NFC Forum compliant NTAG ICs are the ideal choice for mass market deployment of NFC proximity marketing and electronics pairing applications.

Based on ISO14443A technology, NTAG combines ease of integration, high RF sensitivity and anti-cloning features to provide benefits for the whole value chain up to the end consumer.

With the NTAG family, NXP is further expanding its NFC portfolio, already comprising NFC radio ICs, contactless reader / writers, embedded secure elements, contactless and dual interface smart cards (MIFARE and SmartMX), and authentication solutions.

Descriptive summary

When invented back in 2002, NFC was defined to serve a variety of applications, while being compatible with the most popular contactless infrastructures, e.g. for payment and automatic fare collection.

With the mass deployment, NFC infrastructures now require dedicated solutions accommodating the demand for interoperability, ease of use and high performance.

Interoperability

NTAG fully complies to NFC Forum Tag specifications, ensuring universal interoperability with NFC devices (e.g. mobile phones, tablet PCs, fixed readers). Moreover, NTAG is based on ISO 14443A standard, thus allowing easy integration in existing infrastructures using MIFARE and SmartMX.

Ease of use

NTAG products are designed to maximize reuse of existing antenna, inlay and tag designs, and are shipped already pre-configured, thus greatly reducing integration effort, R&D expenses and time to market for tag manufacturers and converters.

High performance

Interoperability with mobile phones requires special attention to RF sensitivity and tag size. NTAG products offer improved read range which, combined with a high capacitance option (50pF), overcomes the presence of obstacles like glass, plastic or fabric between tag and reader, even for small tag sizes (40mm diameter or less).
