Network systems of all kinds—Ethernet switches for data centers and enterprise campuses, enterprise and service-provider routers, Carrier Ethernet Switch Routers (CESR), OLTs and other broadband access systems, optical transport equipment—need a processor for control and management and, optionally, to provide special network services.
