FiRa == Fine Ranging. FiRa applet is considered to be a key exchange applet like the digital key CCC applet. It can connect with other applets via a shared interface.
FiRa is a function which usually establishes a trusted session between two FiRa devices over an out of band (OOB) channel such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Once an OOB session is created, the devices can communicate and calculate some working parameters for ranging. The ranging parameters (the so called Ranging Data Set (RDS))are then transferred to a UWB subsystem to establish a secure ranging UWB session. A FiRa device is considered to be an Enhanced Ranging Device (ERDEV).
