Touchless interfaces are widely preferred for commercial and residential buildings to grant easier access, as well as reduce the spread of infection from frequently touched surfaces. We expect human machine interfaces (HMI) in buildings to be intuitive, responsive and reliable, which typically means the equipment should run in a standalone mode without needing a network or cloud connection outside the building.
So what kind of hardware and software platforms can process touchless interfaces at the edge? How do you know if they will work in your environment? How can you get started on an evaluation and design? This session will describe and demonstrate some existing in-building multimode edge processing solutions for face, voice and gesture recognition, plus an innovative ultrawide band (UWB) mobile device-to-building interface approach.
