The MC44CC373/MC44374 CMOS family of RF modulators are the latest generation of NXP® RF modulators, and are the replacement to the legacy MC44BS373/4 family of BiCMOS devices.
The MC44CC373/MC44374 RF modulators are designed for use in set-top boxes (STB), digital video recorders (DVR), DVD players and similar devices, as well as Digital TV adapters, to enable legacy analog TV devices to connect to all-digital TV signals. They support multiple standards and can be programmed to support PAL, SECAM, or NTSC formats via a high speed IIC bus. A programmable, internal PLL with on-chip LC tank covers the full VHF and UHF signal range. Also featured is a programmable on-chip sound subcarrier oscillator that covers all broadcast signal standards, eliminating the need for external tank circuit components, which reduces PCB design design complexity and cost. The on-chip PLL obtains its reference from a low cost 4MHz crystal oscillator. The MC44CC373 / MC44374 are available in a 16-pin SOIC, Pb-free package. The MC44CC373 / MC44374 modulators are functionally equivalent to the legacy MC44BS373/4 BiCMOS parts, but are not direct drop-in replacements. All CMOS RF modulators now include the AUXin found previously only on the 20-pin package option of the MC44BS373. This is a direct input for a modulated subcarrier and is useful in the BTSC or NICAM stereo sound or other subcarrier applications. The MC44CC373CASEF part features a secondary IIC address, for applications requiring two RF modulators on a single IIC Bus.Quick reference to our documentation types.
