NXP's Freedom boards FRDM-24XSMBEVB is a hardware tool for evaluation and development of the different eXtreme switches that composes the 24 V family. This motherboard can be associated with 5 different devices from this family thanks to its shield connectors.
These compatible devices are from 24 V family, dual high side devices that feature integrated control with high flexibility and a high number of protection and diagnostic functions. These boards are easy to use thanks to the following interfaces:

  • FRDM-KL25Z and its SPIGEN Graphical User Interface
  • Freedom KL25z, KV10Z, K64F with Processor Expert components

  • FRDM-50XSDBEVB: covers MC50XS4200 (2 outputs 50 mOhm in SOIC32 package)

General Specifications

  • This board can control various type opf loads such as solenoids, PLC, DC motors, bulbs, or LED...
  • These devices offer to set of overcurrent profiles, channel control including PWM duty-cycles, parallel mode, output-ON and -OFF OpenLoad detections, thermal shut-down and prewarning, and fault reporting
  • Output current monitoring with programmable synchronization signal
  • Compatible SPI software driver among the family

Device can be driven by the 16-bit SPI using

  • KL25Z with SPIGen software
  • KL25Z, KV10Z and K64F using Processor Expert component 36 V eXtremeSwitch using CodeWarrior 10.6 or Kinetis Design Studio v3.0 or higher
  • With direct input signals in Fail-safe mode operation (switch on board)
