Secure Access Rights FAQs

Having secure access rights allows you to access authorized secure information on NXP.com, including secure files (documentation and other design resources). You can browse, search, request and download this information. We’ll also let you know when highly secure information is available about a product you are interested in. Learn more about secure access rights.

It is required to provide a business email address for company verification. If you have an NXP account with a personal email, switch now to a business email.

1. Create an NXP account with a business email, for example, john.green@company.com. If you have an NXP account with a personal email, switch now to a business email.
2. Apply online for a non-disclosure agreement to receive proprietary and confidential information on NXP products. To learn more about this process, visit our NDA FAQs page. If you already have an NDA with NXP, continue with the next step.
3. Go to the Secure Access Rights page and upload your NDA, this will speed up the request process. You should fill in your company information and provide the areas of interest for which you would like to gain secure access rights.
4. After submitting your secure access rights request, you will be redirected to My NXP Account > Profile page. During this time, the request will be reviewed individually by NXP, and you will see in progress the status of your request under the Secure Access Rights.
5. If your request is granted, a confirmation email is sent to you. You will be able to find the files for which you have granted access under My NXP Account > Secure Files*.

*Note: The Secure Files page is only visible when you have secure access rights.

Under the General Information section:

• Enter your company's website
• Enter the contact person you're working with
• Enter the details of the application you're designing
• Upload your NDA

Under the Areas of Interest section:

• Select the product you are interested in
• State the product you are interested in and the reason for your request

Individuals who receive proprietary or confidential information from other parties and those who provide proprietary or confidential information to other parties are responsible for safeguarding this information. To speed up your qualification for secure access rights, we request a signed NDA with NXP. Before approval, your request will be reviewed, and your information verified. Your request review would take approximately one (1) business day.

Your request is sent to NXP for individual review.

Your application is individually reviewed and subject to NXP validation. Uploading your company NDA with NXP helps to expedite the process. However, this is not a guarantee to gain secure access rights. If your application is declined, an email will be sent with further details.

You can find your existing secure access rights under My NXP Account > Secure Access Rights.

There are two areas on the site to request higher access rights—through your Profile and through a product page:

1. Secure Areas of Interest. Navigate to My NXP Account > Secure Access Rights > Areas of Interest and select (by product category) the areas for which you would like to request additional access rights and save your selections for NXP revision. Note: The secure Areas of Interest section on your Profile is only visible if you have secure access rights.
2. Product Pages. Where applicable, under the “Secure Files” label, click “Request additional access”.

For both areas, describe the justification of your request for NXP approval. You will receive an email that includes the resolution of your request to gain additional secure access.

After you submit your additional access rights request, it will be processed by NXP. An email will be sent to your NXP account when the process is completed.

2. Go to My NXP Account > Communication Preferences page (visible when you have secure access rights)
3. Opt-in to receive notifications when secure files (non-public information) are updated for products that you have secure access rights to

As part of our security protocol, NXP requests that your email associated with your NXP account is verified every 30 days. Any file that was previously unavailable on NXP product pages or under My NXP Account > Secure Files will be made available after the reactivation.

Yes. However, depending on the changes you have made, your access to the secure information may get temporarily disabled while we process the updates. We'll send you an email when the verification process is completed.

• Enhance your account security by turning on two-step authentication under My NXP Account > Profile. When enabled, a single-use verification code will be sent to your phone when you attempt to sign in. This extra security will prevent unauthorized logins, even if someone has your password.
• Please ensure that you are connected to https://www.nxp.com as all communication is carried out securely using SSL.

The secure files are NDA-protected assets about our products. Access to these files is personalized based on your secure access rights.

Go to My NXP Account > Secure Files and view the information by product or by file. Additionally, where available, you can find them on our product pages under the documentation and other design resources with the label “Secure Files”.

The access status represents the state (e.g., granted) of the secure content and when available, they are shown as follows:

• Access Granted. You have gained access to view this file due to a related file to which you have access or due to a project you may be working on.
• Request Required. This file requires a secure access rights request.
• Access Pending. This file has been sent for approval. Thanks for your interest.
• Access Declined. If you think this has been declined in error, request access again.
• Request Granted. You have gained secure access rights to this file due to a request you made.

Files with the “Request Required” status need additional justification for NXP approval.

Some files must be personalized before you can download them. You will receive an email when the file is ready to download. This process can take up to 24 hours before it becomes available.

All your authorized secure files should be available under My NXP Account > Secure Files.

You can access previous revisions of a file by going to My NXP Account > Secure Files and selecting a file or by navigating to a product page and finding "Secure Files" under Documentation and Design Resources. To expand the revisions, click on the label "Previous Revisions" found in the metadata of the file.

Shown below is an example of what to expect when accessing previous revisions of a file.

Note: Previous revisions will be displayed only if you previously downloaded them. If you need to access an old version of a document, please contact support for availability.

A certificate verifies the identity and encrypts the secure files on NXP.com. It is used to decrypt secure files and ensures user authenticity.

To request a certificate, go to My NXP Account > Profile > Certificate for Secure Files and click on the "Request certificates" link. You will get an email sent to the email associated with your NXP Account to complete your request.

Note: The certificates section on your Profile is only visible if you have secure access rights.

Some files are encrypted and require a certificate to be opened.

The certificate password is a key that allows you to install certificate(s) and open encrypted files. This password is unique to your NXP account with secure access rights and is only visible for seven (7) days.

To get a password for your certificate, go to My NXP Account > Profile > Certificate for Secure Files and click on the "Certificate password" link. The password will be shown below this link to install and open the certificate(s). If your password is locked ( ), click on the "request new certificates" link to unlock it.

Review the installation instructions user guide on NXP.com. This is also sent to your email upon requesting a new certificate under My NXP Account > Profile > Certificate for Secure Files.

If your certificate is expired or lost, request a new certificate under My NXP Account > Profile > Certificate for Secure Files. A new email will be sent to you with the decryption instructions.

In case previous certificates were found these are also added to this email.

Yes. Old or expired certificates should be installed using the standard procedure which allows you to open previously authorized files. When multiple certificates are attached these can be easily distinguished by their expiration date which is shown in the file name.

Note: The files that were encrypted with a prior certificate cannot be decrypted with new certificates.

The certificate password is only visible for seven (7) days. If you no longer have access to your password, you may request new certificates. NXP will resend your available certificate via email.

In certain specific configurations, the installation of the certificate using Adobe Acrobat / Reader will not work. When this happens, use the below steps to install the certificate on Windows.

1. Go to the location where the certificate was saved. Right‐click the certificate and select "Install PFX"
2. The Certificate Import Wizard is started, be sure that the "Current User" is selected under the Store Location section.
3. Click "Next" to proceed.
4. The next screen displays the path to the certificate. Click "Next".
5. Enter the password certificate and leave the bottom checkbox selected and click "Next".
6. Select the option "Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of the certificate" and click "Next".
7. The last screen will show an overview of your settings. Select "Finish" to complete the wizard.
8. The installation and configuration procedure is now completed.
9. Before opening any secure file please first close all windows of Reader / Acrobat if any were open during the installation of the certificate.
10. You are now able to open the encrypted secure files.
