1. Get Started

Sensor evaluation boards provide a wide spectrum of enablement hardware for quick sensor evaluation and development. It includes a demonstration kit, shield development board, and breakout board for motion and pressure sensors targeted toward IoT, Industrial, Medical applications.

This page will guide you through the process of setting up and using the FRDM-K22FAGMP03 Sensor Toolbox development kit for FXLS896xAF, FXAS21002C, MAG3110 and MPL3115 with FRDM-K22F MCU development board.

2. Get to Know the Hardware

2.1 Board Description

The FRDM-K22F-AGMP03 board enables quick customer evaluation of FXLS896xAF using sensor toolbox enablement software and tools.

2.2 Board features

  • Sensor add-on/companion boards feature accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, and pressure sensing capabilities compatible with the FRDM board ecosystem
  • Sensor Toolbox provides a wide variety of sensor boards with compatible software tools for NXP’s 10-axis solution
  • Multi-Sensor shield board for:
    • FXLS8962AF: 3-axis digital accelerometer
    • MPL3115: digital pressure/altimeter sensor
    • FXAS21002C: 3-axis digital angular rate gyroscope (no longer manufactured)
    • MAG3110: 3-axis digital magnetometer (no longer manufactured)
  • Compatible with Arduino® and most NXP FRDM development boards
  • Allows evaluation of current consumption and pin voltage characteristics
  • Supports I2C and SPI communication interface with host MCU
  • Supports hardware configurability to switch accelerometer mode (normal vs motion detection) and I2C/SPI interface mode
  • Support multiple test points on the board

3. Configure the hardware

To configure the hardware, complete the following procedure:

  1. Download the latest OpenSDA drivers for FRDM-K22F board available at OpenSDA Update to the FRDM boards
  2. Connect the Sensor Demonstration Kit to the PC via the USB cable between the OpenSDA USB port on the board and the USB connector on the PC
  3. Choose your hardware configuration. Apply required accelerometer mode and I2C/SPI interface mode by changing SW2 and SW3 appropriately
  4. Follow getting started instructions for sensor toolbox ecosystem software and tools for evaluation and development:
