The Xtrinsic Touch Sensing Software (TSS) transforms NXP® 8-bit S08, and 32-bit ColdFire® V1 MCUs into touch sensors, giving designers the flexibility to select from more than 650 NXP MCUs to add cost-effective touch sensing functionality to their human-machine interface (HMI) designs.
The NXP KITPROXIMITYEVM is a full featured development kit containing a plug-in touch sensor module allowing the evaluation of rotary, touch pad and slider touch sensing technologies, using the Touch Sensing Software, to get your design up and running quickly and easily.
The KITPROXIMITYEVM does not ship with a MCU development kit. The KITPROXIMITYEVM is End of life, but will be replaced with the TSSELECTRODEEVM kit.

The TSS library enables capacitive sensing for all NXP S08 and ColdFireV1, ColdFire+ and Arm® Cortex®-M4 based family microcontrollers (MCUs), providing the common touch sense, decoding structures such as keypad, rotary, and slider. It is implemented in a software layered architecture to enable easy integration into the application code and migration to other NXP MCUs and customer customization.
AN3934: This application note shows you, how in fourteen steps, to write your first touch sensing application ("from scratch") using the Touch Sensing Software (TSS) Library. Although this application note uses the NXP TSSEVB, the same procedure can be used to create touch controls using virtually any NXP 8-bit MCU. The hardware used is the NXP TSS evaluation board.
AN3863: This document presents a set of guidelines for layout and placement of touch sensing circuits using NXP capacitive touch sensing technology. Touch sensing solutions, like touch panels, touch screens, and capacitive keypads are increasingly becoming a substitute for mechanical buttons or membrane keyboards. They are used in a wide range of applications from consumer products like computers, appliances, and industrial equipment.
