The BMS communication monitoring and debugging toolkit is used to monitor and decode BMS internal communication. It is composed of separate hardware and software components.

The KIT-TPLSNIFEVB hardware board facilitates the acquisition of electrical transport protocol link (ETPL) signals by a logic analyzer. It is a listen-only tool that can be used at the end of an ETPL bus or directly included in a daisy chain, as it is designed not to be intrusive on the ETPL bus.

The TPL Decoder is a high level analyzer (HLA) extension for the Saleae Logic Software. It eases decoding of the NXP TPL protocols on several physical layers.

Features

Power and Data Connections

  • Connection to any point of the monitored TPL bus
  • Logic analyzer connection with a provided cable pin-to-pin compatible with the Saleae Logic 8 and Logic Pro 8/16 analyzer series
  • Powered through a USB connector by a 5 V source, typically a USB power bank or a USB cable connected to a computer

Additional Features

  • Minimal loading of the TPL line
  • Internal galvanic isolation between the TPL and rest of the circuits
  • Integrated keep-alive function to avoid power bank self shut-off
