Differences between Verilog-A and SiMKit for ASMESD 101.1.0[SIMKIT-ASMESD]
Electro-static discharge (ESD) diodes are the most popular component for protection of core electronics against any potentially harmful ESD events. Accurate circuit simulation of the ESD diode behavior is therefore critical for designers to be able to analyze its effect on the overall circuit performance. Accurate simulations are also needed to perform any co-optimization of ESD protection devices and the core circuits. The accuracy of circuit simulations is primarily dependent on the accuracy and capabilities of the compact/SPICE model. ASM-ESD model consists of core formulations which model the forward- and the reverse I-V diode behavior under normal operation. The core model formulations are augmented with the ability to model a plethora of ESD-specific physical effects.
